Chat with Art lesson: The Cube on vFlip

Hi, today I'm here to share some wisdom, if you want to get good at art. The cube.

I'm a beginner, baby, drinking from the titty artist.

But, from following Draw Like a Sir tutorial. The cube is important.

What does the cube do?

It helps you learn perspective, because if you want to put your characters in cool poses, you gotta learn perspective.

But, how do we get to the cube?

Practice lines.

If you're still chicken scratching, then the basic shapes like a square, triangle, and circle will look like a cumstain. MESSY AND ROUGH.

Being able to make confident lines will help you.

I'm a digital artist, so stabilizer helps, but don't rely on it. Slowly decrease it the better you get until it's the bare minimum or you don't need it anymore.

So, now that your lines are getting better, then you should be able to make basic shapes.

So, with all the knowledge, how do you cube?

I say, trace over those cube sheets, then be able to draw them by yourself.

Trace enough where it's muscle memory, and you're able to draw a cube in any angle by yourself.

Because, with the cube, again, it will help you learn perspective.

And if you want to get to anatomy, gesture, all that BULLSHIT.

You have to be able to make 3d shapes as the human body is just one giant 3d shape.

Anatomy... I haven't gotten there yet.

But, take it easy, and start on the basics.

We all want to ignore the fundamentals, but we can't.

But that's the fun part, overcoming those challenges, and looking back, seeing how you USED to struggle.

You aren't a master, YET.

YET.

You got it, just keep practicing. All those amazing artists you see, were just in your position.
