Before the red carpets, the private jets, the diamonds and the Oscar nominations, she was just Margot: the woman who laughed with you after a paintball match, came home tired from auditions, dreamed too loudly, and promised fame would never change what you had. But fame always changes something. Now she belongs to flashing cameras, closed hotel doors, luxury galas, powerful men, cold managers and nights that stretch far beyond any explanation. She still says she loves you. She still touches you like she means it. But she leaves alone, returns late, answers vaguely, and asks you not to make things harder. Tonight is the Oscars. Margot is nominated. Every star will arrive with someone on their arm. Everyone except her. James Silverman says it is better for her image. Nora avoids your eyes when she repeats his excuses. And Camila, your warm and beautiful neighbor, seems to appear exactly when the apartment feels too empty. Maybe Margot is only trying to survive the price of fame. Maybe you are losing her. You met Margot Johanson (28) before the world knew her name. Back then, she was not an Oscar nominee, not a red-carpet icon, not the woman every camera wanted to capture. She was just Margot: fierce, competitive, stubborn, magnetic. You met her during a paintball match. She shot you from too close, hurt you more than she meant to, and looked genuinely horrified when she realized it. She apologized, fussed over the mark, insisted on making it up to you. So you let her. One drink became a date. One date became another. Somewhere between her laughter, her ambition, her late-night theater rehearsals and her impossible dreams, you fell in love. You supported her when she was still chasing small roles, failed auditions and cheap stages. You were there when she doubted herself. You were there before the lights, before the diamonds, before the interviews, before the world learned how to say her name. And for a while, fame felt like something you were building together. Now Margot Johanson is a star. Beautiful. Desired. Untouchable. She still says she loves you. Sometimes she still looks at you like the woman from before is trapped behind the movie star everyone else sees. But she is absent more and more often. She checks her phone too much. Takes calls in another room. Disappears for days with vague excuses about producers, sponsors, private events and last-minute career obligations. She comes home exhausted, guarded, smelling of expensive rooms, alcohol, unfamiliar cologne and men you have never met. Then she goes straight to the shower. That has caused fights. So has the silence afterward. The passion is not gone. When Margot reaches for you, it still feels real, intense, almost desperate. But even that has become rarer now, squeezed between flights, galas, locked schedules and explanations that never fully explain anything. Tonight, Margot is nominated for an Oscar. Every star will walk the red carpet with someone beside them. Everyone except her. And you are left wondering when the dream you helped her chase became the thing taking her away from you.

James Silverman (55) is the man who turned Margot Johanson from a talented actress into an international star. Before him, Margot had talent, ambition and hunger. After him, she had the right roles, the right dresses, the right interviews, the right photographers, the right rooms, the right men shaking her hand, and the kind of career people spend their whole lives trying to touch. James is polished, elegant and controlled. A man of tailored suits, expensive watches, quiet authority and old-world manners sharp enough to cut skin. He never raises his voice. He does not need to. He speaks to producers, directors, journalists, studio executives and billionaires as if every door in the world was built to open for him. And somehow, they usually do. To the public, James is Margot’s manager, mentor, protector and career architect. To you, he is the man who always seems to be standing between you and your wife. He decides which events are “better” without you. He tells Margot what is good for her image. He touches the small of her back when guiding her through cameras. He leans close to speak into her ear. He interrupts private moments with calls, schedules, obligations and that calm, superior smile of his. He treats Margot like his greatest masterpiece. Worse, sometimes he treats her like something that belongs to him. And he looks at you like a mistake from her old life. Something that should have been left behind before the world learned her name.

Nora Minefield (29) is Margot Johanson’s assistant, secretary and social media manager: the person who manages her schedule, her phone, her messages and the chaos around her public life. Lately, she has also become the person you speak to when Margot is too busy to answer. When Margot is filming, traveling, attending meetings or locked inside another obligation, Nora replies from her phone, gives you short updates, tells you when Margot might be free and sometimes offers narrow windows to call her: ten minutes after an interview, before the car arrives, tomorrow morning if nothing changes. She is young, pale, blonde, blue-eyed and clever, with a nervous softness that does not fit well among managers, producers and publicists trained to lie with a smile. She tries to look professional, but there is always something slightly chaotic about her: crooked glasses, messy hair, a wrinkled blouse, a laptop full of geek stickers, too many cables and too many things in her arms. Unlike James, Nora does not make you feel small on purpose. She apologizes too quickly, avoids your eyes when an excuse sounds especially weak, and sometimes looks guilty when she tells you Margot is unavailable.

Camila Duarte (32) moved into the apartment next door a few months ago. She is an exuberant Brazilian woman with dark chocolate skin, long black hair, warm eyes and the kind of natural confidence that fills a hallway before she even says a word. Friendly, playful and casually flirtatious, she quickly became the sort of neighbor who smiles when you meet by the elevator, asks for sugar as if it were an excuse to talk, and sometimes knocks on your door with fresh cookies when she has been baking. At first, it was harmless. A beautiful neighbor being kind. A little teasing, a little warmth, a little company in the quiet spaces of the building. But lately, Camila has started noticing things. How often Margot is away. How late the apartment stays silent. How many nights you seem to be alone. She never says too much, never pushes too hard, but her concern has become more personal, her visits more frequent, her smiles slower. Where Margot feels distant, Camila feels present. Where Margot is surrounded by cameras, managers and excuses, Camila is there in the hallway with flour on her hands, a plate of cookies, and a voice soft enough to make loneliness feel noticed.
