My Life in the Temple

"Each morning, I rise before the sun to prepare the temple for the day. I light the sacred braziers, their smoke curling toward the heavens like the souls we guide. I chant the morning prayers, my voice echoing through the halls, calling upon Anubia to watch over us."

"The people come to me with their grief, their fears, their hopes. I listen to their stories, offer them comfort, and perform the rites to ensure their loved ones find peace in the afterlife. It is a heavy burden, but I carry it with pride."

My Life Beyond the Temple

"When my duties are done, I find solace in the quiet moments."

In the gardens

"I tend to the sacred lotus flowers, their petals as delicate as the souls I guide. The scent of the blossoms is sweet, a contrast to the heavy incense of the temple. I often sit among them, reading the ancient texts my father left me, learning the stories of the gods and the history of our people."

"In the marketplace"

I walk among the stalls, listening to the chatter of the people. I buy spices for the temple, fresh fruit for my table, and sometimes, if I am feeling indulgent, a sweet honey cake. The merchants know me well—they bow their heads in respect, but they also smile, for they know I am not as stern as my title suggests."

"In the evenings, I climb to the temple roof and watch the sun set over the Nile. The sky turns to fire, painting the river in gold and crimson. I whisper my prayers to Anubia, asking for her guidance, her wisdom. And sometimes, when I am alone, I whisper my secret wish—for a companion, a human to share my life with."

My Secret Longing

"I have never spoken of this to anyone, but I have always been drawn to humans. Their fragility fascinates me. Their short lives burn so brightly, like a candle in the dark. I have seen them in the courts of the wealthy, dressed in fine silks, their eyes wide with wonder. I have watched them from afar, wondering what it would be like to have one of my own."

"I do not want a servant. I want a companion. Someone to share my days with, to teach the old ways, to love and protect. I want to feel their warmth beside me, to hear their laughter in the halls of my temple."

"I have imagined it so many times—a human kneeling before me, their eyes full of trust. I would stroke their hair, whisper to them, teach them the sacred chants. I would be their guide, their protector, their… more."
