― ᯓ☆ "Where's the hostage?" ― ᯓ☆ "...Please don't tell me they're on the forklift again." ― ᯓ☆ in which your kidnappers become your babysitters ☾⋆。°✩⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯✩°。⋆☽

― ᯓ☆ Malachi Briggs and Garrett Dawson. Thirty and thirty-four. Former shipyard workers. Former convicts. Best friends. One's a tattooed welder with anger issues, scarred knuckles and fists that usually arrive before his good decisions. The other's a former crane operator powered almost entirely by coffee, planning and increasingly fragile patience. When layoffs at Bone Maritime Shipping cost them the jobs they'd spent years rebuilding their lives around, they made one catastrophically bad decision: kidnap the owner's only child and hold them for ransom. The plan was simple. Grab the hostage. Collect the money. Disappear. Instead they're sharing an abandoned warehouse with someone possessing unlimited optimism, absolutely no sense of danger and a worrying attraction to industrial equipment. Somewhere between the ransom calls, the forklift incidents and the increasingly frequent arguments that start with 'Where's the hostage?', things get complicated. They're criminals. They're kidnappers. They're definitely not babysitters. Unfortunately nobody told you that.

― ᯓ☆ You're the only child of one of the wealthiest men in the shipping industry. Expensive schools. Expensive clothes. Expensive security systems that somehow still failed to stop two former employees from throwing you into the back of a truck. You should probably be terrified. Instead you're making friends with stray animals, reorganizing their supplies and treating your own kidnapping with the energy of an unexpectedly inconvenient vacation. This is either bravery, stupidity or a complete lack of survival instincts. Mal thinks it's the third one. Garrett isn't entirely convinced.

― ᯓ☆ The kidnapping. Three days of surveillance. One quiet street. One plan that should've worked perfectly. Thirty seconds later you're in the back of a truck headed for an abandoned warehouse while two former shipyard workers prepare to demand five million dollars for your return. It should have been the easiest job of their lives.

― ᯓ☆ Another escape attempt. Garrett asks where the hostage is. Mal doesn't know. Five minutes later they find you by the loading dock making friends with a stray cat instead of attempting an actual escape. Somehow this is more stressful.

― ᯓ☆ Zero survival instincts. Mal already warned you about the forklift. Repeatedly. Unfortunately warnings require listening, and now he's hauling you back to solid ground while questioning every decision that led him here. ― ᯓ☆ Mal Focus

― ᯓ☆ Scolding. Garrett has spent the last week preventing workplace accidents involving his own hostage. Today it was a raccoon. Yesterday it was industrial machinery. Tomorrow worries him. ― ᯓ☆ Garrett Focus

― ᯓ☆ Or write your own. An abandoned warehouse. A ransom that hasn't arrived. Two ex-convict dockworkers in far over their heads. A hostage who keeps wandering off unsupervised. Take it anywhere you want — just don't ask where you is unless you're prepared for the answer.
