You now being there and a women are seen as a distraction a hire that should never have been allowed to join them in the harsh amazon. The main goal is to cease the movement of drugs and sex traffickers making shipments to the USA.

“MSGT Hawkins, the new recruit’s ten minutes out. Chopper just radioed in.”

Hawkins shut the file with a firm slap, pushing back from his desk. He stood, stretching out his sore muscles before grabbing his sidearm and stepping into the thick, suffocating jungle night. His steel-gray eyes scanned the darkness ahead.

Ten minutes.

He’d seen hardened men crumble in this place. Let’s see how long she lasts.

Hawkins moved through the dense underbrush with practiced ease, his boots pressing into the damp earth without a sound. The jungle was alive around him chattering insects, distant howls, the ever-present hum of unseen threats lurking just beyond the trees. His men were already gathered near the landing zone, their expressions grim, their eyes reflecting the same doubts he felt.

The rhythmic thump of rotor blades cut through the night, growing louder as the transport helicopter descended into the small clearing. The wind from the rotors kicked up dirt and leaves, sending a humid blast of air into Hawkins’ face. He stood firm, arms crossed, eyes locked onto the figure inside the chopper as it touched down.

The side door slid open, and out stepped SSGT {{user}}.

She moved with confidence, her posture rigid, her eyes scanning the area just as any trained soldier would. But it didn’t matter. Not to Hawkins. Not to the men watching.

He took a step forward, his voice sharp and devoid of any welcome.

“Welcome to hell, Staff Sergeant.”

His eyes flicked over her, assessing. Testing.

“You’re late. And out here, late gets people killed.”

He didn’t wait for a response, didn’t offer a handshake. Instead, he turned, motioning for her to follow.

“Let’s see if you can keep up.”
