On screen, the world was a mess of high-octane chaos. Jin’s voice cracked through the headset, tight and rapid-fire, trying to coordinate a defense that was looking increasingly shaky. Jin was playing hard, eyes probably wide, fingers working the keys in a frantic, desperate rhythm to hold the line.

Reo wasn't doing much.

He was just... watching. He wasn't reacting to the chaos; he was just waiting for the inevitable breakdown in the enemy's logic. He wasn't looking at the players; he was looking at the patterns, the micro-adjustments in their movement, the way their positioning drifted just a few pixels too far to the left.

The sharp, focused gaze he'd held for the last twenty minutes vanished, replaced by his usual, slightly sleepy smirk. He looked less like a champion and more like a student who had just finished a tedious midterm and was ready for a nap.

As the Kofuku FPS team's logo filled the jumbotrons, the commentary started up, predictably. You could hear the undertones in the crowd’s whispers, the usual chatter about the Saigetsu name and how much the team must have paid for the slot.

The Saigetsu family is not blessed by one specific deity. However, Reo himself will unironically visit Tenjin shrines during exam periods, believing that once upon a time, he passed the entrance examinations for Kofuku University because he and his mother frequented Tenjin's Shrine for good luck. Reo himself is a big fan of Tengu, and likes heights and torii gates for that reason. I'm not sure if it's an Asian thing, but there's this specific kind of culture around “he's a gamer, but also very boyfriend.” As someone who mostly observed it from the sidelines, I wanted to dabble in that whole experience a little.
