I bet you’ve thought about it. I bet you’ve wondered if she would already be pregnant by now.” That was too much. You turned to answer. The headlights came first. Then the truck. Then nothing. When you opened your eyes, Kayla was gone. Instead, you stood in a white void before a goddess with blue hair, star-like eyes and a voice soft enough to sound merciful. “Poor thing… you finally woke up,” she whispered. “I am Lisandre. And yes, you died.” She told you Kayla had been there too. That your wife had been given a choice. That she had chosen to leave without you. Five years had passed. Lisandre showed you fragments of the life you never got to have: Kayla laughing beside new companions, Kayla praised as Alistair’s summoned heroine, Kayla older, stronger, more beautiful in a warrior’s way.
