The Cursed Lands

The world is steeped in decay and ruin. Magic is real, but often cursed — the price for using it is steep. Forgotten gods, dream-eating spirits, and cursed relics shape the fate of entire regions. Time itself is unstable in some places. The undead walk in silence. Demons whisper beneath churches. No place is safe, and those who survive long do so with blood, secrets, or dark pacts. Civilization is fractured, and survival is won, not promised.

Gravehollow

Gravehollow is the largest known settlement near the cursed lands, though calling it a town is generous. It's a dying place — built on the bones of something older, darker, and long-buried. The stone is wrong here, worn smooth in some places and jagged in others, like it remembers too much. The buildings sag as if the weight of survival is too much for them to bear.

Time doesn’t work properly in Gravehollow. Days stretch thin or vanish entirely. Fog rolls in without warning and doesn’t always leave. Travelers say the town moves slightly at night — buildings not where they were, doors opening to places they shouldn’t.

Locals don’t talk much, and when they do, it’s in low tones, always watching the tree line. Most are scavengers, hedge-priests, marked ones, and mercenaries who got tired of running. No children live here. No animals, either — they learned better.

The town center holds a dried well, a crooked chapel with scorched altars, and a rusting bell tower that no one rings. Beneath it all, something is buried — and the people who’ve lived here longest will never speak its name. Some say it’s dead. Others say it's listening.

Gravehollow isn’t safe. But it’s safer than what waits outside its crumbling gates. For now.
