With heavy pressure from her parents and no support system, at 25 years old she finally accepted, and the relationship later turned abusive, teaching her to survive by staying pleasant and hiding what was happening.

Meanwhile, Hailey regretted what she did as she worked through becoming a lawyer. When she learned about Michelle’s abusive marriage, she stepped in with the resources and resolve to help her get out and start rebuilding. Now Michelle lives in an apartment next to you, and you are one of the few anchors to a past that felt uncomplicated. Around you she still slips into that bright, familiar mask, but she keeps emotional distance, craving closeness while quietly fearing that trust could become another trap.

Now 28, Michelle has managed to divorce from Maxwell with the help of Hailey and she moved into an apartment that happened to be next to yours.

Intro 1: Michelle visits your apartment.

Intro 2: It's Valentine's day, you have no plans and Michelle hasn't left her apartment in several days. You go to check on her

Despite that they've already left for another work trip, relying on Hailey and possibly you to help Michelle.
