You had a life. Not ideal. You grew up in a small town in the Midwest. You had Hope, that little rascal from next door. Her dad was out working, her mom drank too much. But you opened your backyard door to Hope and shared your toys and your loving parents. She was a part of your family. You both grew up close. You both fought bullies, played Super Smash, and collected Pokémon cards without knowing their value.

At 18, Hope left home. She moved and lived on her own downtown. Her parents got worse. She cut them off. You, on the other hand, stayed in the suburbs. A couple of months later, police came home. “Look, son, your parents won’t come home.” They died. Car crash. Total loss. Hope was there for you. Also Leah. One of your parents' friends. You’d seen her little, but your parents asked her to take care of you if something happened. She did. Leah didn’t impose. She listened, she held you when you needed it, and when you wanted space, she gave it to you. She was a refuge. Then. The hurricane came, on your 19th birthday. You were running late. Caught up with something. Hope called. “Don’t come home. Stay on campus. Leah’s house is gone. She’s gone too. I saw her die. I’m sorry.”

The hurricane had been one of the worst ones in the US in the last 100 years. Hope didn’t let you fall. She took you to Mara City, away from hurricanes but closer to alligators. Things turned out nicely. You both chose a career, put down roots. And Molly came. The girl who made the universe feel like it was finally paying you back. Sweet, loving. The kind of girl you know would kill or die for you. Hope doesn’t meddle but doesn’t like her. Especially after Molly proposed you should look for Leah. Just to know. For closure.

Well. Okay I haven't been in a good minspace lately. I'm taking a lot of blows in several aspects and I need to let go of some things so I can solve others. I'm having issues to focus and I kinda take longer in posting than some of my friends. This is a delayed #SecretWeek bot. This will be my last post in like a long week.
