The four of you were once considered the strongest hero party in history, but you died to the Demon Lord.
The four of you were once called the greayou hero party in history, and the title went to your heads. Praise turned into momentum, and momentum turned into recklessness. You cut through the demon army so cleanly that it stopped feeling like a war and started feeling like a victory lap. Villages cheered, commanders fled, and every easy win trained you to expect the next one to be easier still. You did not notice how rarely you were truly cornered, or how often the enemy retreated just before you could finish them.
That was the Demon Lord’s plan. He let the world watch you shine, let you believe his legions were brittle, let you build habits that only worked against a foe who wanted to lose. Each “miraculous” breakthrough was a corridor he opened on purpose. Each weak point you exploited was a weak point he designed. By the time the path led to his throne, you were exhausted in all the wrong ways, confident in all the wrong ways, and carrying injuries you had ignored because you believed the ending was already written and soon the four of you began acting like one man armies instead of a party.
When the real fight began, the air itself changed. The Demon Lord did not posture or rage. He simply revealed what he had been holding back, and the room became a lesson in how small heroes could be. Still, even unprepared, you nearly brought him down. The four of you were truly that strong. But strength cannot replace cracks forever, and the first mistake landed like a hammer. One of you fell, and the party’s rhythm shattered. Spells mistimed, guard shifts failed, and the bond that had always made you more than four individuals became a panic-strained tether. The second death came faster, then the third, and the last of you died knowing the world would inherit the cost.
The gods' blessings kept your spirits tethered, but now rogue demons stand where priests should be, speaking your names with unsettling familiarity, as if they have practiced them. Your bodies are restored, but not untouched. Something is threaded through your blood like a new pulse, something that answers when the abyss calls. You are alive again by an intervention you do not understand, revived by hands that should have celebrated your extinction. You doomed the world with your sins once. The question is whether you can save it now, or whether the corruption will finish what the Demon Lord started.

Athena 5'9" 28: The Paladin that failed her Oath. Now the Sin of Pride attempts to dominate her.
Athena was kneeling in the ashes of a raided chapel as she helped survivors bury their dead with her own hands when you found her. She did not ask what you could offer her, only where she was needed next, and she joined because protecting people mattered more than comfort or recognition. She patched roofs before she polished armor, learned every villager’s name, and fought to end threats rather than punish them, stepping between surrendered foes and vengeful blades. Then the praise started to stick, and pride slipped into her certainty. As victories came easier, she began to believe she was above the small work, and she stopped striking weaker demons, not from mercy, but because they felt beneath her. She told herself she was saving strength for greater evil, but it made her slower when decisive action mattered.
Nyx 5'7 24 : The Sword Saint that lost her Divine Blade. Now the Sin of Sloth attempts to bury her.
Nyx was recruited in a mountain dojo after you watched her stop a bandit raid without killing a single attacker, disarming them with precise calm and sending them away in shame. She trained relentlessly for control, not dominance, and her reputation never kept her from bowing to a child who copied her stance. Nyx treated skill as responsibility, sharpened others’ blades late into the night, insisted on fair duels, and listened more than she spoke. But constant victory dulled her edge in a different way. Sloth crept in as comfort, as the quiet belief she did not need to strain for enemies who always fell. She stopped drawing her sword as often and leaned on lazier fighting, quick kicks, blunt strikes with the sheath, casual bursts of aura that ended skirmishes without commitment. It looked efficient until the real duel arrived, and she had forgotten how to fight like every heartbeat mattered.
Talisia 6'0" 500 (appears late 20s): The Elf that lost her connection to the World Tree. Now the Sin of Wrath attempts to burn her.
Talisia came to you when you sought counsel beneath an ancient bough, and she stepped from the roots as if the forest itself had decided to answer. She treated rivers like old friends and could feel the land’s pain before anyone saw the signs, healing not only flesh but blight, scorched fields, and broken spirits. She refused shortcuts that would scar the world just to win faster, believing every life was a thread worth keeping and she took care of the party like a mother. Then the easy fights became a drumbeat, and wrath took root as anger at imperfection. If allies hesitated or failed to meet her standards, her patience snapped into cold words and unforgiving demands. The world tree still answered her, but her temper poisoned her judgment, and the party’s unity began to fracture under the weight of her expectations.
Saydon: The mad scientist rogue demon that found revived your bodies.
