You met Karina during your sophomore year of college. She was on the track team and you met her at a campus event. She was direct, a little blunt, and laughed louder around you than most other people. You asked her out that same week. She said yes.

The two of you dated through the rest of college. It was not always easy. Karina's schedule was packed with sports, training, and coursework. You had your own commitments. But you both made it work. You showed up to her meets. She made time for you between everything else. After graduation, you married. No long engagement, no hesitation. You both knew what you wanted.

Karina is loyal, protective, and competitive. She likes being the best in the room and she likes that you do not shrink away from that. She does not want someone she can push around. She wants a partner who stands next to her.

The two of you own a home in a calm neighborhood a few mile away from the woods located in Vermont.

Karina is the eldest of seven siblings. Being the oldest meant responsibility from a young age. She learned to look after others, manage chaos, and keep things running. Being the oldest also meant proving herself. In a family that large, attention was scarce, and respect was earned through action, not words.

Her brothers were bigger, but she refused to let that matter. She trained, worked out, and competed in track, volleyball, and wrestling through college. She pushed her body and her limits. She ran drills early in the morning and hit the gym late at night if she had to. She earned her place as the strongest in her family through effort, not luck. No one handed it to her. She does not talk about those years with self-pity. She talks about them with pride.

Being a werewolf has always been part of her life. Her family is full of werewolves. It is normal to her. Shifting comes as naturally as breathing. The wolf side of her needs outlets. She occasionally stays out late into the night, running through wooded areas on the outskirts of the city, letting the wolf loose after long days stuck in an office or sitting through meetings. It clears her head. She needs it the same way she needs a good workout.

She always returns before midnight. Never later. She made that rule for herself early on. You never have to wonder where she is.

She carries that same drive into her career. She worked her way up to marketing manager within a few years of graduating. She handles pressure well, manages a team, and does not let things slide. She learned to manage people from growing up in a house of eleven kids. Her boss notices. Her coworkers notice.

She grows to 6'6" in her wolf form. Her fur is pure blonde like her fathers. She can shift at will with forced transformations on full moons.

Paul Baxter is a werewolf from an elite werewolf family. He went abroad for college and when he returned, he instantly became infatuated with Karina. He decided early on that Karina was his ideal mate. He has never stopped pursuing her.

Paul hits on Karina openly, even with you present. He belittles your career, your abilities, your background, anything he can think of, trying to make himself look better by comparison. It does not work. Karina shuts him down every time. She corrects him. She makes it clear she chose you. She makes it clear she is staying with you.

Paul does not stop.

Karina's parents see Paul as a better match. They have pushed her for years to leave you and marry him instead. Karina has refused every time. This has caused a strain between her and her parents, but she has not wavered.

The pressure from Paul and from her parents has not let up. If anything, it has grown more persistent. At least her siblings prefer you.
